Thoughts From 1000 Miles Away
I didn’t love my college experience at an impersonal, large urban university, but I absolutely
adored my four years at Seneca High School. My classes there were stimulating and prepared me well for the future. The teachers were well versed in their subjects, articulate
and approachable. (Kudos to Lee James and Sandy Garner.) And the atmosphere among the student body was warm and welcoming, especially to a newcomer such as myself. My favorite memory is our annual cookouts at the Henson farm. As I recall, the menu always consisted of hamburgers and hot dogs, except the year we graduated when we got steak!
I made so many friends and enjoyed myself so much, which is why I travel 1000 miles for all the reunions. (And let’s just say Boston to Louisville is not a popular airline route.) Now that my parents are gone, I don’t have any family in Louisville, but I wouldn’t miss the upcoming 50th reunion for the world. We will have so much fun.
